East Hamilton Retires Tre Herndon’s No. 21, the First Jersey in School History

From Ooltewah to the NFL

Herndon’s path from East Hamilton to professional football wasn’t a straight line to stardom, it was a story built on persistence. He became the first player in East Hamilton history to sign an SEC scholarship, heading to Vanderbilt, where he closed out his college career with 126 total tackles, two interceptions, and 25 pass deflections across 48 appearances. He went undrafted in 2018, but that didn’t stop him. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and spent six seasons in the NFL, later getting looks from the Giants, Saints, Colts, and Bills. Across his career, he’s racked up 243 tackles, 32 pass deflections, three interceptions, and a couple of forced fumbles, a resume plenty of drafted players never put together.
